Supporting Alzheimer’s Research

Live Oak Caregivers was present at Peachtree Hills Place on October 9th to help Daughters Against Alzheimer's kick off their Fall Fundraising Drive. The gathering included sponsors of the Battle For The Brain fundraising event, which benefits Emory University's Goizueta Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.

The highlight of the evening was a presentation by Dr. Allan Levey, Dr. Jim Lah and Dr. Erik Johnson from the Goizueta Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, who provided updates on some important research milestones made over the past year. In the photo above, Dr. Levey tells the group about progress on early diagnostics and treatment of the disease.

To date, Daughters Against Alzheimer's has raised over $5 million for Alzheimer's research. While 6 million Americans are currently living with the disease, another 48 million may have early stages of the pathology. As research has shown that treatments for Alzheimer’s and dementia will be most effective if the different pathologies of the disease can be detected before cognitive problems occur, one of the keys to winning this battle lies in early detection.

Live Oak Caregivers is proud to be a sponsor of the annual Battle For The Brain fundraising event. Read more about Daughters Against Alzheimer's efforts to prevent and treat the disease.
